So, who’s behind Play KE?

Hey ya’ll! I’m Ashley Mwari—a Nanyuki-based music ambassador and A&R professional, dedicated to shifting the narrative of Kenyan music, arts and culture.
My journey is fueled by a singular mission: ensuring Kenyan artists and creative projects get the spotlight and structure they deserve. As an A&R professional at Budhouse Music, I work behind the scenes to bridge the gap between incredible local talent and global audiences.

Beyond that, I am the voice behind the Play KE platform. Here, my mission expands past the music to document the heartbeat of Kenyan arts & culture. I tell the authentic stories of KE creatives across the spectrum—amplifying not just musicians, but DJs, painters, graffiti artists, dancers, vloggers, fashion stylists, designers and all creatives in the scene.

My commitment to cultivating the scene has also led me to serve as an industry panel judge for benchmark events like the UnKut Hip Hop Awards. I blend my deep love for the arts with practical, diverse skill sets—holding credentials as a safari specialist, social media manager, and certified virtual assistant. Whether I am consulting for artists, documenting creative journeys, or grading industry excellence, I bring strategy, structure, and pure passion to the table.
Let’s build, elevate, and celebrate Kenyan creativity.
